5 Outdoor Activities near Weyers Cave to Try This Spring

Whether you’re looking to go for a hike, bike ride, or just take in the scenery, there’s something for everyone. Here are five of our favorites!
-Shenandoah National Park: Virginia’s very own national park is just down the road! Shenandoah is perfect for a day (or more) of hiking, camping, and exploring. Visit the Byrd Visitor Center to learn about the history of the park, enjoy ranger programs, eat at one of the many restaurants, and enjoy over 500 miles of trails!
-Grand Caverns: A National Natural Landmark, Grand Caverns of Weyers Cave is the oldest continually operating show cave in the United States. In addition to the caverns, the park at Grand Caverns is filled with scenic trails for hiking, running, and biking!
-Horseback Riding: There are several stables near Weyers Cave that offer horseback riding lessons and trail rides. The Shenandoah Valley offers miles of horse-riding trails for riders of all skill levels. This is a great activity for all ages and a great way to explore the beautiful Virginia countryside!
-Natural Chimneys Park: Discover the towering limestone formations at the Natural Chimneys Park! Visit for just the day, or camp at the campground and make a weekend out of exploring the area. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy here, like hiking, biking, fishing, and birdwatching.
-Frontier Culture Museum: The Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia is an outdoor museum tells the story of the thousands of people who migrated to colonial America. Enjoy a self-guided tour through 11 permanent exhibits that allow visitors to experience “living history” as communicated through costumed interpreters in both the Old World and American sections of the Museum.
